DOS Circular Letter No. 07: Scheduled bank branches will remain open on 17 & 24 May 2025 and Holiday for Eid-ul-Adha on 11 & 12 June 2025

All scheduled bank branches in Bangladesh are ordered to remain closed on Wednesday, 11 June 2025, and Thursday, 12 June 2025, in observance of the Eid-ul-Adha government holiday. Conversely, branches are required to remain open on normal working hours (10:00 AM to 6:00 PM) on Saturday, 17 May 2025, and Saturday, 24 May 2025. Additionally, banks located in port, customs, or airport areas must maintain import-export operations from 5 June 2025 to 12 June 2025, excluding the Eid holiday days, in coordination with local administration and customs authorities.

Regarding the government holiday declaration on 11 and 12 June 2025 for the holy Eid-ul-Adha, and the decision to keep banks open on Saturday, 17 May 2025, and Saturday, 24 May 2025.

Dear Sir,

Through Notification Number-05.00.0000.173.08.006.23-252 dated 07 May 2025 of the Ministry of Public Administration, a government holiday has been declared on Wednesday, 11 June 2025, and Thursday, 12 June 2025, on the occasion of the holy Eid-ul-Adha. Accordingly, all branches/sub-branches of scheduled banks will remain closed.

  1. In the interest of official work, scheduled banks will remain open from 10:00 AM to 06:00 PM on Saturday, 17 May 2025, and Saturday, 24 May 2025, according to normal working hours.

  2. In accordance with DOS Circular Letter No.-24 issued on 05 August 2019 regarding keeping bank branches/sub-branches/booths located in sea/land/air port areas (Port and Customs areas) open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, the concerned banks will take necessary measures to continue import-export related activities on government holidays from 05 June 2025 to 12 June 2025 (excluding Eid days) in consultation with the local administration and port/customs authorities.

This directive is issued under the powers conferred by Section 45 of the Bank Company Act, 1991.
