The Department of Offshore Supervision directs all scheduled banks operating in Bangladesh to keep branches involved in Hajj operations open on Saturday, 25 March 2023, from 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM with limited staff and enhanced security measures. Banks are also instructed to take necessary arrangements for the authorization and payment of prepared vouchers after office hours on Monday, 27 March 2023, if required. This directive is issued under Section 45 of the Bank Company Act, 1991, following a memorandum from the Ministry of Religious Affairs dated 22 March 2023.

In light of Memorandum Nos. 16.00.00.00.003.40.002.23-437 & 441 dated 22 March 2023 from the Ministry of Religious Affairs, instructions are hereby given to ensure smooth Hajj management by keeping your bank's relevant branches/sub-branches associated with Hajj activities open until the prescribed banking hours (9:30 AM to 4:00 PM) on Saturday, 25 March 2023, which is a weekly holiday, through a limited number of personnel while ensuring adequate security. Furthermore, appropriate arrangements must be made for the authorization and payment of prepared vouchers after office hours on Monday, 27 March 2023, if necessary.
This instruction is issued in the public interest under the powers conferred by Section 45 of the Bank Company Act, 1991.
