DOS Circular Letter No. 10: Conducting Banking Services in Limited Scale during Mango Season in Related Areas

The Department of Offshore Supervision directs all scheduled banks operating in Bangladesh to keep selected branches open on Saturdays until July 31, 2025, excluding Eid days, in specific districts of the Rajshahi region. This measure aims to ensure cash supply and deposit services for mango traders and mitigate cash storage risks during the mango season. Banks must exercise their own discretion to ensure security while implementing these limited-scale operations.

Regarding keeping branches of concerned banks open on weekly holidays (Saturdays) in limited scale during the mango season

Dear Sir,

In view of the permanent/temporary mango markets that have emerged in various upazilas of Chapainawabganj (Shibganj, Chapainawabganj Sadar, Gomastapur and Bholahat upazilas), Nawabganj (Sapahar, Porsha and Niamatpur upazilas), Rajshahi and Naogaon districts in the greater Rajshahi region during the current mango season, instructions are hereby issued to take necessary measures to keep bank branches/sub-branches open on Saturdays (excluding Eid days) until July 31, 2025, subject to your own discretion and after ensuring security, to ensure cash supply/deposits and mitigate risks associated with cash storage for traders.

These instructions are issued in the public interest under the powers conferred by Section 45 of the Bank Company Act, 1991.
