Scheduled banks' branches in specified industrial areas (Dhaka, Ashulia, Tongi, Gazipur, Savar, Bhuluka, Narayanganj, and Chittagong) must remain open on a limited scale with limited staff on April 19, 20, and 21, 2023, to facilitate export bill sales and salary payments for the ready-made garment sector. On these dates, Bangladesh Bank's clearing system remains active, but banks outside these areas cannot present checks. Following Eid, bank office hours are set from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with transaction hours from 10:00 AM to 3:30 PM.

Regarding the closure of Scheduled Banks and the determination of office hours after Eid on 20 April 2023 on the occasion of the holy Eid-ul-Fitr.
Dear Sir,
Through the gazette notification number-05.00.0000.173.08.006.23-61 dated 11 April 2023 of the Ministry of Public Administration, 20 April 2023, Thursday, has been declared as a general holiday on the occasion of the holy Eid-ul-Fitr. Consequently, branches/sub-branches of Scheduled Banks will remain closed.
To facilitate the sale of export bills by various institutions related to the ready-made garment industry before the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr, and to provide convenience for the payment of salaries, bonuses, and other allowances to workers/employees/staff working in this industry, branches of Scheduled Banks located in Dhaka Metropolitan, Ashulia, Tongi, Gazipur, Savar, Bhuluka, Narayanganj, and Chittagong related to the ready-made garment industry will operate banking activities on a limited scale with a limited number of staff on 19, 20, and 21 April 2023, which are government holidays, according to the schedule below:
The clearing system of Bangladesh Bank will remain operational on 19, 20, and 21 April 2023. However, for the smooth operation of the clearing system, checks cannot be presented by any bank branch located outside the aforementioned areas.
Office hours of Scheduled Banks after Eid will be from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and transaction hours will be from 10:00 AM to 3:30 PM (similar to the pre-Ramadan period).
This directive is issued in the public interest under the powers conferred by Section 45 of the Bank Company Act, 1991.
