DOS Circular Letter No. 13: Suspension of DOS Circular Letter No. 06/2013 Regarding Opening of All AD Branches of Scheduled Banks on Saturday

To, All Banks operating in Bangladesh.

Dear Sir,

Regarding the opening of Authorized Dealer (AD) branches of banks on Saturday, the weekly holiday.

Reference is drawn to your attention to DOS Circular Letter No. 06 dated March 27, 2013.

2. Through the aforementioned circular letter, instructions were issued to keep all authorized dealer branches of scheduled banks in the country open on every Saturday, the weekly holiday, for conducting all types of transactions according to the normal banking schedule, until further instructions are not issued.

3. Now, with the withdrawal of the instructions of the aforementioned circular letter, in accordance with the instructions issued by this department in DOS Circular Letter No. 18 dated December 07, 2006, all foreign currency transaction branches (Authorized Dealers) of commercial banks located at air, sea/water, and land ports in the country for the facilitation of foreign trade and transactions will remain open on Friday and Saturday. Among other authorized dealer branches located elsewhere in the country involved in import-export trade transactions, the branches that banks deem necessary to keep open may remain open on Saturday at their own discretion. It is noteworthy that these branches may determine their own office and transaction schedules.

These instructions will come into effect immediately.
