The Department of Off-site Supervision advises that only garment industry-related branches of scheduled banks operating in industrial areas of Dhaka, Savar, Ashulia, Gazipur, Narayanganj, Khulna, and Chittagong remain open on Tuesday, August 6, 2013, to facilitate salary and allowance payments for workers in the labor-intensive garments sector. Banks are required to ensure necessary security measures are in place for the branches that remain open under this arrangement.

Dear Sir,
Regarding the opening of Scheduled Bank branches in industrial areas on the government holiday of 06 August 2013 to facilitate the payment of salaries and allowances in the labor-intensive garments industry sector.
In response to the request from the Ministry of Labour and Employment and BGMEA, it is advised that only the branches of Scheduled Banks specifically related to the garments industry operating in industrial areas of Dhaka Metropolitan City, Savar, Ashulia, Gazipur, Narayanganj, Khulna, and Chittagong be kept open with special arrangements on the upcoming Tuesday, 06 August, 2013, to facilitate the payment of salaries and allowances in the labor-intensive garments industry sector.
