The Department of Off-site Supervision directs scheduled banks to keep branches in industrial and large shopping market areas open on July 2, 3, and 4, 2016, to ensure safe and smooth cash transactions during the Eid-ul-Fitr holiday period. Banks are instructed to determine which specific branches require opening based on their own assessment and are advised to provide reasonable allowances to staff working on these public holidays. This directive maintains the operational requirements previously set in DOS Circular Letters No. 13 and 14 regarding the ready-made garment sector.

Department of Off-site Supervision. Ref. No. DOS Circular Letter No-15 To The Chief Executive All Scheduled Banks operating in Bangladesh.
Date: ------------------------ 14 Asharh 1423 Bangabda 28 June 2016 AD
Dear Sir,
With reference to your attention regarding the decision to keep scheduled bank branches open in various commercial areas and large shopping markets on the government holidays declared for the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr (including weekly holidays), namely July 02, 03, and 04, 2016, we draw your attention to DOS Circular Letters No. 13 and 14 issued on June 26, 2016.
Through the aforementioned circular, instructions were given to keep only the scheduled bank branches related to the ready-made garment industry open on Saturday, July 02, 2016, and Sunday, July 03, 2016, in the ready-made garment industry areas located in Dhaka Metropolitan City, Ashulia, Tongi, Gazipur, Savar, Narayanganj, Chittagong, Cumilla, Mymensingh, and Tangail, to facilitate the payment of salaries, bonuses, and other allowances to workers/employees working in the ready-made garment industry, subject to ensuring security. Through the latter circular, it was announced that all scheduled banks located in the country would remain closed on Monday, July 04, 2016, in accordance with the government's announcement.
Now, it has been decided that, keeping the instructions of DOS Circular Letter No. 13 unchanged, the relevant bank branches will remain open on July 04, 2016, in the areas mentioned in that circular. Furthermore, to ensure smooth business operations and safe financial transactions, only bank branches related to all commercial areas and large shopping markets in the country will remain open on July 02, 03, and 04, 2016, during the Eid government holidays including weekly holidays, subject to ensuring security, specifically for cash withdrawal and deposit. However, banks will determine based on their own consideration whether it is necessary to keep any particular branch open.
Since July 02, 03, and 04, 2016, are weekly and government holidays, you are also advised to provide reasonable allowances to officials/employees who join office for work on those days.
Please acknowledge receipt.
Yours faithfully,
(Signature/-)
