DOS Circular Letter No. 16: Keeping Hajj activities related scheduled bank branches open on 16 and 17 June 2023
The Department of Offsite Supervision of the Bangladesh Bank directs all scheduled banks operating in Bangladesh to keep branches involved in Hajj activities open on Saturday, 16 June 2023, and Sunday, 17 June 2023, which are regular weekly holidays. Banks must operate these specific branches from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM using a limited number of staff while ensuring adequate security, in accordance with a memorandum from the Ministry of Religious Affairs dated 15 June 2023. This directive is issued under the powers granted by Section 45 of the Bank Company Act, 1991.

In light of the Memorandum No.-16.00.0000.003.40.002.23-1303 dated 15 June 2023 from the Ministry of Religious Affairs, instructions are hereby given to take appropriate measures to keep your bank's relevant branches/sub-branches related to Hajj activities open until the prescribed bank hours (10:00 AM to 5:00 PM) on 16 and 17 June 2023, which are weekly holidays, through a limited number of personnel while ensuring proper security for the sake of effective Hajj management.
This instruction is issued in the public interest under the powers conferred by Section 45 of the Bank Company Act, 1991.
