DOS Circular Letter No. 16: Keeping scheduled bank branches of custom station area open on the ahead of Eid-ul-fitr to facilitate country's export and import

The Department of Off-site Supervision directs all scheduled banks to keep branches at designated customs stations open from July 3, 2016, until the day before Eid-ul-Fitr to facilitate import and export trade. This directive supplements previous instructions regarding branch operations on weekly holidays and Eid holidays. Banks are also advised to provide reasonable allowances to employees who report for duty on the specified holiday dates.

Dear Sir,

In the context of keeping scheduled bank branches associated with customs stations open ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr to keep the country's import and export trade active, the National Board of Revenue has decided to keep the Chittagong, ICDC Kamalapur, Dhaka, Mongla, Benapole, and Pangao Customs Houses open on all days except the weekly holidays and Eid holidays from July 01, 2016, to July 09, 2016, i.e., except July 08 and July 09, 2016 (03 days), to keep the country's import and export trade active. It is mentioned that in accordance with DOS Circular Letter No-18 dated December 07, 2006, previously issued, the AD branches of scheduled banks including air, sea/water, and land ports are currently directed to remain open on weekly holidays Friday and Saturday.

  1. In this regard, in addition to the directives of the circular mentioned above, it is directed to keep the branches of scheduled banks associated with suitable customs stations open from July 03, 2016, until the day before Eid, to ensure security and facilitate the country's import and export trade.

  2. You are also advised to provide reasonable allowances to employees/staff who report for duty on the aforementioned holiday dates.
