The Department of Offshore Supervision directs all scheduled banks to keep branches in Dhaka, Ashulia, Tongi, Gazipur, Savar, Baluka, Narayanganj, and Chittagong open on June 14, 15, and 16, 2024, to facilitate wage payments and export bill purchases for the ready-made garment sector before Eid-ul-Azha. Banks must ensure adequate security measures for these operations. Additionally, branches located in sea, land, or air port areas must continue operating 24/7 in coordination with local administration and customs authorities, as previously mandated by DOS Circular Letter No. 24 dated August 5, 2019.

Context regarding keeping scheduled bank branches in the garments industry areas open on 14, 15, and 16 June 2024 on a limited scale for the payment of wages, bonuses, and other allowances to workers/employees/staff of the ready-made garment industry, and for the purchase of export bills before Eid-ul-Azha.
Dear Sir,
In view of the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha, various institutions in the ready-made garment industry have requested the purchase of export bills and the payment of wages, bonuses, and other allowances to workers/employees/staff operating in this industry. Instructions are hereby issued to take necessary measures to keep the branches of scheduled banks located in Dhaka Metropolitan City, Ashulia, Tongi, Gazipur, Savar, Baluka, Narayanganj, and Chittagong, which are related to the ready-made garment industry, open on 14, 15, and 16 June 2024, ensuring adequate security.
In accordance with DOS Circular Letter No. 24 issued on 05 August 2019 regarding the 24/7 operation of bank branches/sub-branches/booths located in sea/land/air port areas (Port and Customs areas), necessary measures must be taken in consultation with the local administration and port/customs authorities.
This directive is issued under the powers conferred by Section 45 of the Bank Company Act, 1991, in the public interest.
