DOS Circular Letter No. 17: Keeping scheduled bank branches dealing with foreign remittance open on 24 June, 2017 to facilitate foreign remittance distribution
The Department of Off-site Supervision directs all scheduled banks operating in Bangladesh to keep a necessary number of branches open on Saturday, 24 June 2017, to facilitate the distribution of foreign remittances ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr. Banks are instructed to ensure security and operate only cash deposit, withdrawal, and foreign remittance distribution services based on their own assessment of customer volume and remittance amounts. This directive is issued to maintain the normal flow of foreign remittances, which are considered a key component of the country's economic engine.

Dear Sir,
In the context of branches dealing with foreign remittance distribution remaining open ahead of the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr on Saturday, 24 June 2017, you are hereby directed to keep a necessary number of branches open based on your own assessment, considering the number of foreign remittance facility users and the volume of remittances, while ensuring security, solely for the purpose of conducting cash deposit and withdrawal and foreign remittance distribution activities. This is to maintain the normal flow of foreign remittances, which are considered one of the components of the country's economic engine, and to facilitate the distribution of remittances sent by expatriates ahead of the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr.
