DOS Circular Letter No. 18: Keeping Bank Branches Open in Industrial Areas During Eid Vacation on a Limited Scale
Scheduled banks must keep branches related to the ready-made garment industry open on limited hours (10:00 AM to 3:00 PM for banking operations, 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM for transactions) on June 27 and 28, 2023, in Dhaka, Ashulia, Tongi, Gazipur, Savar, Bhaluka, Narayanganj, and Chittagong to facilitate export bill sales and salary payments for workers. This directive applies despite these dates being declared public holidays for Eid-ul-Adha. Banks located in port, customs, or airport areas must continue 24/7 operations as per DOS Circular Letter No. 24 dated August 5, 2019, after coordinating with local administration and port/customs authorities.

Regarding the declaration of closure of scheduled bank branches on 27 June 2023 on the occasion of the holy Eid-ul-Adha and keeping certain branches of scheduled banks related to the ready-made garment industry open on 27 and 28 June 2023 on government holidays on a limited scale to ensure payment of salaries/benefits to workers/employees/officers working in the industry and purchase of export bills.
Dear Sir,
In pursuance of Notification Number-05.00.0000.173.08.006.23-104 dated 20 June 2023 of the Ministry of Public Administration declaring general holiday on Tuesday, 27 June 2023 on the occasion of the holy Eid-ul-Adha, branches/sub-branches of scheduled banks will remain closed.

To facilitate the sale of export bills by various institutions related to the ready-made garment industry prior to the upcoming Eid-ul-Adha and to provide benefits for the payment of salaries, bonuses, and other allowances to workers/employees/officers working in said industry, certain branches of scheduled banks located in Dhaka Metropolitan City, Ashulia, Tongi, Gazipur, Savar, Bhaluka, Narayanganj, and Chittagong, which are related to the ready-made garment industry, shall conduct limited banking activities according to the schedule below on 27 and 28 June 2023 (government holidays), ensuring adequate security:

In accordance with DOS Circular Letter No.-24 issued on 05 August 2019 regarding keeping branches/sub-branches/booths of banks located in sea/land/airport areas (port and customs areas) open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, appropriate measures must be taken through consultation with the local administration and port/customs authorities.
This instruction is issued in the interest of the public under the powers conferred by Section 45 of the Bank Company Act, 1991.
