DOS Circular Letter No. 20: Keeping Hajj activities related scheduled bank branches open on 18 June 2022

The Department of Off-Site Supervision of the Bangladesh Bank directs all scheduled banks operating in Bangladesh to keep branches involved in Hajj operations open on Sunday, 18 June 2022, which is a weekly holiday. Banks must ensure these branches operate with a limited number of staff while maintaining necessary security measures, in accordance with a memorandum from the Ministry of Religious Affairs dated 16 June 2022. This directive is issued under the powers granted by Section 45 of the Bank Company Act, 1991.

In light of the Memorandum No.-16.00.0000.003.40.005.22.855- dated 16 June 2022 from the Ministry of Religious Affairs, instructions are hereby given to take appropriate measures to keep your bank's relevant branches/sub-branches related to Hajj operations open on 18 June 2022, a weekly holiday, with a limited number of staff while ensuring proper security, for the interest of smooth Hajj management.

This instruction is issued in the public interest under the powers conferred by Section 45 of the Bank Company Act, 1991.
