The Department of Off-Site Supervision of the Bangladesh Bank directs all scheduled banks to keep branches located in Dhaka, Ashulia, Tongi, Gazipur, Savar, Bhuluka, Narayanganj, and Chittagong open on July 8 and 9, 2022, to facilitate the payment of wages, bonuses, and allowances to garment industry workers and the purchase of export bills. While the Bangladesh Bank clearing system remains operational on these dates, banks are prohibited from accepting checks from branches located outside the specified areas to ensure smooth clearing operations.

Regarding the decision to keep scheduled bank branches related to the ready-made garments industry open on July 8 and 9, 2022, for the payment of wages, bonuses, and other allowances to workers/employees/staff of the garments industry and for the purchase of export bills ahead of the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha.

In view of the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha, necessary measures have been directed to ensure the safety of scheduled bank branches related to the ready-made garments industry located in Dhaka Metropolitan City, Ashulia, Tongi, Gazipur, Savar, Bhuluka, Narayanganj, and Chittagong, and to keep them open on July 8 and 9, 2022, to facilitate the sale of export bills and the payment of wages, bonuses, and other allowances to workers/employees/staff of the said industry.
