Periodic Letter No. 208/2017

The Central Bank of Libya issued Periodic Letter No. 208/2017 to mandate commercial banks and the Libyan Foreign Bank to periodically submit copies of their Monthly Financial Statements and Modified Financial Statement Models to its Research and Statistics Department and Contributions and Loans Unit. This directive operationalizes the banks' reporting obligations under Law No. 1 of 2005 by aligning current submissions with the established frameworks outlined in Circular No. 8/96 and Periodic Letter No. 48/2010. Compliance requires consistent, end-of-month reporting to ensure accurate regulatory oversight and survey data collection.

To the General Managers of Commercial Banks, The General Manager of the Libyan Foreign Bank,

Greetings,

Based on the provisions of Law No. (1) of 2005 concerning Banks, and its amendments, and on the supervisory and monitoring role exercised by the Central Bank of Libya over commercial banks in accordance with the provisions of the Law.

And referring to Circular No. 8/96 issued by the Banking Supervision Department on 07 April 1996, regarding the Monthly Financial Statement submitted periodically by banks to the Central Bank of Libya at the end of each month.

And referring to Periodic Letter No. 48/2010 issued on 03 March 2010, regarding the Modified Financial Statement Model for Survey Purposes.

Therefore, you are requested to submit a copy of the Financial Statement to the Research and Statistics Department, and the Contributions and Loans Unit at the Central Bank of Libya, periodically, in accordance with the above.
