FSB Position Paper and Guidelines on Personal Account Trading
The South African Financial Services Board, in cooperation with the South African Reserve Bank, issues regulatory guidelines and a position paper governing Personal Account trading for employees of financial market participants. The document establishes strict rules to mitigate conflicts of interest and defines permissible trading activities for staff within regulated entities. These guidelines are the result of a co-operative effort between the Banking Supervision Department of the South African Reserve Bank and the FSB, involving a thorough research of the subject. The Reserve Bank issued a similar circular in terms of the Banks Act. This is, therefore, a consolidated regulatory effort. I thank you for your co-operation in this regard.
