Regulation A: Extensions of Credit by Federal Reserve Banks

The Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System issued final amendments to Regulations A and D to implement recent monetary policy adjustments. The rule lowers the primary credit rate to 5.00 percent and the secondary credit rate to 5.50 percent, while simultaneously reducing the interest rate paid on reserve balances to 4.9 percent. These rate decreases align with the Federal Open Market Committee’s September 18 decision to lower the federal funds target range to 4.75–5.00 percent and took effect on September 19, 2024.
