ESAs Launch Survey on Environmental and/or Social Financial Product Templates

The European Supervisory Authorities (ESAs) have launched a survey to gather feedback on the presentation details for sustainability-related disclosures under Regulation (EU) 2019/2088. The ESAs propose standardizing information disclosure for financial products promoting environmental or social characteristics through mandatory templates to improve comparability across EU Member States. These templates are intended for use by Alternative Investment Fund Managers, UCITSs, insurance undertakings, IORPs, and PEPP providers. The consultation period for this draft Regulatory Technical Standards runs until 16 October 2020.

Circular Triq l-Imdina, Zone 1 Central Business District, Birkirkara CBD 1010 +356 2144 1155 communications@mfsa.mt www.mfsa.mt ESAs Launch Survey on Environmental and/or Social Financial Product Templates Further to the publication of Regulation (EU) 2019/2088 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 November 2019 on sustainability‐related disclosures in the financial services (SFDR), which will apply from the apply from 10 March 2021, the European Supervisory Authorities (ESAs) have issued a survey to get feedback on the details of the presentation of the information to be disclosed. The ESAs are proposing to standardise the disclosure of information for financial products that promote environmental and/or social characteristics or have a sustainable objective by using specific templates. The use of such mandatory templates will improve comparability of different financial products in different EU Member States and are intended to be included in existing disclosures provided by Alternative investment fund managers (AIFMs), Undertakings for Collective Investment in Transferable Securities (UCITSs), insurance undertakings, Institutions for Occupational Retirement Provision (IORPs) or providers of pan-European Personal Pensions Products (PEPPs). The consultation package includes three preliminary, illustrative mock-upsof pre-contractual and periodic disclosure templates of products promoting Environmental and/or Social (E/S) characteristics and an online survey. Relevant stakeholders are invited to provide comments on presentational aspects of the mock-ups as the content of the mock-ups already reflects the current text of the draft RTS.
