The Malta Financial Services Authority requires applicants and existing Authorised Persons to classify their organisation size as a microenterprise, small enterprise, medium-sized enterprise, or non-SME. Applicants must submit a self-declaration form during the authorisation process, while existing Authorised Persons must update their classification in the License Holder Portal. This classification must be guided by Commission Recommendation 2003/361/EC and related European Commission materials.

As part of the authorisation process, applicants will be required to establish their organization size and submit a self-declaration form – which will be made available in due course – classifying themselves as one of the following, based on their organisation size:
