The Central Bank of Egypt extends the exemption from the minimum 50% cash insurance rate for imports of meat, poultry, sugar, medicines, vaccines, chemical materials, infant milk, foodstuffs, animal feed, fertilizers, and insecticides for an additional six months, ending in June 2014. Banks are authorized to determine the cash coverage ratio without a minimum limit, subject to adherence to credit granting controls and the results of their internal credit studies for clients. This decision supersedes the previous exemption period which ended in December 2013.
