External Circular No. 5/2024: Payment of Money Orders and Remittances from Abroad

The Central Bank of Bolivia (BCB) will facilitate the payment of foreign money orders and remittances in US dollars (USD) within national territory for Financial System Entities. These entities may deposit corresponding funds into the BCB's correspondent account abroad, subsequently withdrawing USD against their accounts at the BCB for delivery to final beneficiaries. The BCB will not charge any commission to Financial System Entities for this service.

EXTERNAL CIRCULAR La Paz, January 18, 2024 CIEX N° 5/2024 FROM: GENERAL MANAGEMENT INTERNATIONAL OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT TO: FINANCIAL SYSTEM ENTITIES SUBJECT: PAYMENT OF MONEY ORDERS AND REMITTANCES FROM ABROAD Gentlemen: In response to Circular/ASFI/DNP/CC-662/2024 of 01/17/2024, issued by the Financial System Supervision Authority (ASFI), the Central Bank of Bolivia (BCB) informs Financial System Entities that it will assist in the payment of money orders and remittances from abroad within national territory in United States dollars (USD). For this purpose, Financial System Entities may deposit the corresponding funds for these money orders and remittances into the Issuing Entity's correspondent account abroad, for subsequent withdrawal in USD against their accounts at the BCB, and delivery to the final beneficiaries. Furthermore, the BCB informs that it will not charge any type of commission for said service to Financial System Entities. Sincerely.
