International Association of Insurance Supervisors

The International Association of Insurance Supervisors is a cooperative organization comprising insurance supervisors and regulators from approximately 190 jurisdictions. It promotes effective and globally consistent supervision of the insurance industry to develop fair, safe, and stable markets for the protection of policyholders. The IAIS fulfills its role by issuing global insurance principles and standards, providing training and support, and organizing meetings for insurance supervisors.

The IAIS vision

IAIS promotes effective and globally consistent supervision of the insurance industry. It aims to:

develop and maintain fair, safe and stable insurance markets for the benefit and protection of policyholders

contribute to global financial stability.

The IAIS role

The IAIS:

issues global insurance principles, standards and guidance papers

provides training and support on issues related to insurance supervision
