The Bangladesh Bank reduces the minimum annual transaction target for money changer establishments operating outside the Dhaka and Chittagong metropolitan areas from BDT 500,000 to BDT 350,000, while maintaining the BDT 500,000 target for establishments within those metropolitan areas. Failure to meet the revised target renders a money changer ineligible for license renewal for the subsequent period. This amended policy becomes effective on June 1, 2009.

Dear Sir,
Amended/Revised Policies Regarding the Operation of Money Changer Establishments.
The instructions contained in FE Circular No. 06 dated August 1, 2004, on the above subject are hereby replaced as follows:
The minimum annual transaction target for money changer establishments operating in places other than the Dhaka and Chittagong metropolitan areas of the country has been revised from BDT 5.00 Lakh (Five Lakh) to BDT 3.50 Lakh (Three Lakh Fifty Thousand). The minimum annual transaction target for money changer establishments operating in the Dhaka and Chittagong metropolitan areas will remain unchanged at BDT 5.00 Lakh (Five Lakh). If the revised target is not achieved, the money changer establishment will not be considered for license renewal for the next period. This policy will come into effect from June 1, 2009.
