FE Circular No. 06: Payment of freight charges to chartered ship owner abroad
Authorized Dealers in Foreign Exchange in Bangladesh are authorized to remit freight charges to foreign ship owners for ships chartered by importers, subject to specific conditions. The remittance requires submission of the relevant Bill of Entry as proof of goods arrival, verification that the unit value including freight is competitive with CFR imports, strict compliance with the Import Policy Order, and authorization from the Directorate of Shipping unless a general waiver applies. These instructions must be brought to the notice of all concerned.
