FEOD Circular Letter No. 01: Regarding payment of 0.50% Freight Brokerage Charge to Shippers Council of Bangladesh (SCB) by Shipping Companies/Shipping Agents

The Foreign Exchange Operations Department of Bangladesh Bank has suspended the operational validity of its Circular Letter No. 01 dated August 1, 2011, for an additional period of six months. This suspension is implemented in accordance with a stay order issued by the High Court Division of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh on January 2, 2013, regarding Writ Petition No. 1875/2012. Approved Dealer Banks are instructed to inform their concerned branches of this directive.

Dear Sir,

Regarding payment of 0.50% Freight Brokerage Charge to Shippers Council of Bangladesh (SCB) by Shipping Companies/Shipping Agents.

Reference is drawn to Circular Letter No. 01 dated 01 August, 2011 of this department on the subject cited above.

In this regard, it is mentioned that in light of Writ Petition No. 1875/2012 filed in the High Court Division of the Honorable Supreme Court, the operational validity of the said Circular Letter has been suspended for an additional period of 06 (six) months in accordance with the stay order of the Honorable High Court dated 02 January, 2013.

It is advised to inform your concerned Approved Dealer branches regarding the above instructions.
