The Bangladesh Bank Foreign Exchange Operations Department suspends the implementation of Circular Letter No. 01 dated August 1, 2011, regarding the 0.50% brokerage charge payable to the Shipping Council of Bangladesh. This suspension is effective for a period of six months, in accordance with a stay order issued by the High Court Division of the Supreme Court on November 25, 2013, concerning Writ Petition No. 1875/2012. Approved dealer banks are instructed to inform their respective branches of this directive.

Dear Sir,
Subject: Payment of 0.50% brokerage to the Shipping Council of Bangladesh (SCB) by shipping companies/shipping agents.
Reference is drawn to your attention to Circular Letter No. 01 dated August 01, 2011 of this department on the subject cited above.
In this regard, it is mentioned that the implementation of the said Circular Letter has been suspended for another 06 (six) months in accordance with the stay order dated November 25, 2013 of the Honorable High Court Division, in light of Writ Petition No. 1875/2012 filed before the Honorable High Court Division.
It is advised to inform your respective approved dealer branches about the above instructions.
