The Foreign Exchange Operations Department of Bangladesh Bank suspends the operational validity of Circular Letter No. 01 dated August 1, 2011, regarding the 0.50% freight brokerage charge payable to the Shippers Council of Bangladesh. This suspension is implemented for a period of six months in compliance with a stay order issued by the High Court Division of the Supreme Court on June 18, 2013, following Writ Petition No. 1875/2012. Approved dealer banks are instructed to inform their respective branches of this directive.

Regarding the payment of 0.50% Freight Brokerage Charges to the Shippers Council of Bangladesh (SCB) by Shipping Companies/Shipping Agents.
Attention is drawn to this department's Circular Letter No. 01 dated August 01, 2011, on the subject cited above.
In this regard, it is mentioned that, in light of Writ Petition No. 1875/2012 filed in the High Court Division of the Honorable Supreme Court, the operational validity of the aforementioned Circular Letter is hereby suspended for a further period of 06 (six) months in accordance with the stay order dated June 18, 2013, of the Honorable High Court.
It is advised to inform your respective approved dealer branches regarding the above instructions.
