The Foreign Exchange Operations Department of Bangladesh Bank restores the validity of Circular Letter No. 01 dated August 1, 2011, which mandates that shipping companies or agents pay a 0.50% freight brokerage charge to the Shippers Council of Bangladesh. This reinstatement follows the High Court Division's dismissal of Rule 1875/2012 and the cancellation of a previous stay order. Dear Sir,
Re: Payment of 0.50% Freight Brokerage Charge by Shipping Company/Shipping Agent to Shippers Council of Bangladesh (SCB).
Reference is drawn to your attention to Circular Letter No. 01 dated August 01, 2011 of this department on the subject cited above.
In this context, it is mentioned that in the matter of Writ Petition No. 1875/2012, the High Court Division of the Honorable Supreme Court has dismissed the rule of the case and declared the previously issued stay order as cancelled. In light of this, the validity of the aforementioned circular is restored.
It is advised to inform your relevant approved dealer branches of the above instructions.
