FEPD-1 Circular No. 20: Remittance for Royalty and Technical Fees for DPAs of EZs

Bangladesh Bank issued FEPD-1 Circular No. 20 to amend existing foreign exchange regulations regarding payments by Domestic Processing Areas within Economic Zones. The circular authorizes Authorized Dealers to process outward remittances for royalty, technical know-how, and assistance fees exceeding previous limits, provided prior approval is obtained from the Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority. This approval requirement also extends to other similar legitimate expenses regardless of the amount involved.

Foreign Exchange Policy Department-1 Bangladesh Bank Head Office Dhaka www.bb.org.bd FEPD-1 Circular No. 20 Date: July 13, 2026 All Authorized Dealers in Foreign exchange in Bangladesh Remittance on account of royalty, technical know-how, technical assistance fees and other similar expenses for DPAs of EZs Dear Sirs, Please refer to paragraph 49 of FE Circular No. 37 dated September 30, 2025 regarding remittance on account of royalty, technical know-how and technical assistance fees for Domestic Processing Areas (DPAs) of Economic Zones (EZs). 02. Upon review of the existing provisions, it has been decided that Authorized Dealers (ADs) may effect outward remittances on account of royalty, technical know-how and technical assistance fees beyond the prescribed limits stipulated in paragraphs 49(1) and 49(2), subject to prior approval from Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA). Approval from BEZA shall also be required for outward remittances on account of other similar legitimate expenses, irrespective of amount. All other provisions in this regard shall remain unchanged.
