FEPD Circular Letter No. 17: Reporting of foreign exchange released through International Cards on health ground

Authorized Dealers in Bangladesh must report foreign exchange transactions executed through international prepaid, debit, or credit cards for travel abroad on health grounds. To facilitate this, a new field named “Medical Quota” has been added under the ENTITLEMENT menu in the online international card monitoring system. This reporting requirement applies to transactions where up to USD 10,000.00 or equivalent is released to Bangladeshi nationals against documentary medical evidence, as permitted under the Guidelines for Foreign Exchange Transactions-2018.

In terms of paragraph 2, chapter 12 of the Guidelines for Foreign Exchange Transactions-2018, Vol-1 (GFET), Authorized Dealers (ADs) are allowed to release upto USD 10,000.00 (Ten Thousand) or equivalent for travel abroad on health grounds by Bangladeshi nationals against documentary medical evidences. Such facility may also be usable through international cards (Prepaid/Debit/Credit), subject to adhere to applicable instructions. 02. To streamline card reporting procedure, a new field named “Medical Quota” has been added under ENTITLEMENT menu in online international card monitoring system for reporting of foreign exchange released through international cards (Prepaid/Debit/Credit) for travel abroad on health ground. In accordance with the above reporting procedure, ADs are advised to report foreign exchange transactions executed through international cards on account of health ground.
