FEPD Circular No. 08: Export subsidy against export of crabs and eel

The Foreign Exchange Policy Department of Bangladesh Bank amends the certification requirements for export subsidies on crabs and eels. For frozen and soft-shell crabs, exporters must submit a certification from the Bangladesh Frozen Foods Exporters Association using Form 'Kh-1'. For live eels and crabs, the requirement to submit a certification from the Bangladesh Live and Chilled Food Exporters Association using Form 'Kh-2' remains unchanged. These instructions apply to shipments dispatched from the date of the circular's issuance, April 25, 2023.

Dear Sir,

Regarding the provision of export subsidy against the export of crabs and eels (live, frozen, and soft-shell).

Attention is drawn to all concerned regarding the amendment of paragraph 5(k) of FEPD Circular No. 40, dated December 11, 2018, on the subject cited above.

  1. It is informed that, in accordance with government decisions, along with the application for subsidy against the export of frozen and soft-shell crabs, a certification from the Bangladesh Frozen Foods Exporters Association must be submitted in the attached Form 'Kh-1' as per the change in the Bangladesh Live and Chilled Food Exporters Association. However, in accordance with the instructions of the aforementioned FEPD Circular, the requirement to submit a certification from the Bangladesh Live and Chilled Food Exporters Association (as per Form 'Kh-2') along with the application for subsidy against the export of eels and crabs (live) remains unchanged.

  2. The amended instructions will be effective for goods shipped from the date of issuance of this circular.

All other instructions regarding the provision of cash assistance in the aforementioned sector contained in other FEPD Circulars/Circular Letters will remain unchanged as before. It is requested to inform all concerned parties regarding this matter.

The authenticity/reliability of the purchase order of the foreign buyer/importer has also been ensured.

Exporter's Signature and Date

Upon verification, it has been found that the exporter's above declaration is correct. The declared export value mentioned in serial number 8 is found consistent with the actual and current international market price, and the authenticity/reliability of the foreign buyer has also been ensured. It is recommended to pay the export subsidy on the repatriated export value (Net FOB Value).
