FEPD Circular No. 17: Release of foreign exchange for travel on health ground

The limit for Authorized Dealers in Bangladesh to release foreign exchange for treatment abroad is increased from 10,000 US dollars to 15,000 US dollars or equivalent. Remittances should preferably be sent directly to the account of the hospital or medical institution abroad, with the option to release the amount through international cards. Foreign exchange in the form of US dollar notes may be released up to 5,000 within this limit.

FE Circular No. 17 Date: May 12, 2025 All Authorized Dealers in Foreign Exchange in Bangladesh Dear Sir, Release of foreign exchange for travel on health ground Please refer to paragraph 2, chapter 12 of the Guidelines for Foreign Exchange Transactions-2018, Vol-1 (GFET) in terms of which Authorized Dealers (ADs) are allowed to release 10,000 US dollar or equivalent on account of treatment abroad. 02. It has been decided to enhance limit to 15,000 US dollar or equivalent from 10,000 US dollar or equivalent. Remittances should preferably be sent directly to the account of hospital/medical institution abroad, with option to release the amount through international cards (prepaid/debit/credit). As usual, foreign exchange in the form of US dollar notes may be released up to 5,000 within the limit. Other relevant instructions shall remain unchanged.
