FEPD Circular No. 20: Release of foreign exchange for study in language course abroad
Authorized Dealers in Foreign Exchange in Bangladesh may release foreign exchange for Bangladeshi nationals to study in language courses abroad, regardless of whether the course is a prerequisite for a bachelor's degree. This authorization applies to permissible fees for admission and study and does not require prior approval from Bangladesh Bank. The directive is effective immediately and leaves other relevant instructions unchanged.
Foreign Exchange Policy Department Bangladesh Bank Head Office Dhaka www.bb.org.bd FE Circular No.20 Date: May 22, 2025 All Authorized Dealers in Foreign Exchange in Bangladesh Dear Sir, Release of foreign exchange for study in language course abroad Please refer to paragraph 10, chapter 11 of the Guidelines for Foreign Exchange Transactions-2018, Vol.-1 (GFET) in terms of which Authorized Dealers (ADs) are allowed to release foreign exchange for admission and study by Bangladeshi nationals in regular courses including language course pre-requisite to bachelor degree, among others. 02. To open wider scope in employment abroad, it has been decided that ADs may also release foreign exchange on account of permissible fees for admission and study by Bangladeshi nationals in language course regardless of pre-requisite to bachelor degree, without approval from Bangladesh Bank. 03.
