FID Circular No. 01 Date: 13 Kartik 1430 29 October 2023
Managing Director / Chief Executive Officer All Scheduled Banks Operating in Bangladesh.
Dear Sir,
Regarding the submission of financial inclusion data.
In the current world, financial inclusion is considered an important regulator to achieve inclusive economic growth and ensure sustainable development. An inclusive financial framework creates employment opportunities on one hand, and on the other hand, risk mitigation and poverty alleviation contribute to financial stability. The Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh is working tirelessly to build a 'Smart Bangladesh' by the middle of 2041 as envisioned in its vision, and to ensure poverty eradication and equal participation of women and men in the financial sector by 2030 under the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by making products/services easily available through both conventional and digital means for every community.
a) Banks must submit the financial inclusion-related data for the semi-annual periods January-June and July-December, as per Annexure-A and Annexure-B attached, to the 'Director (FID), Financial Inclusion Department, Bangladesh Bank, Head Office, Dhaka' within the month following the completion of each semi-annual period.
b) There will be a focal officer of the concerned bank for the submission of data. The details of the focal officer (name, designation, department/unit/wing, email ID, mobile number) must be sent to this department within 15 working days of the issuance of this circular, and if the focal officer changes, this department must be informed within the next 07 working days; and
c) Data mentioned in these directions must be submitted starting from the July-December, 2023 semi-annual period.
The bank's contribution to financial inclusion will be reflected in the Management part of the CAMELS Rating by the Bangladesh Bank.
This direction is issued under the powers conferred by Section 45 of the Bank Company Act, 1991.
Yours faithfully,
