IOEAMA UNSCR Ref SC15309 ISIL (Da'esh) and Al-Qaida 5 June 2023

The Securities Commission of The Bahamas informs licensees and registrants that the United Nations Security Council removed two individuals, Abd al-Aziz Adai Zimin al-Fadhli and Hamad Awad Dahi Sarhan Al-Shammari, from the ISIL (Da'esh) and Al-Qaida Sanctions List on 5 June 2023. Consequently, the asset freeze, travel ban, and arms embargo no longer apply to these specific names. Licensees and registrants are required to exclude these individuals from their maintained lists of United Nations designated entities and individuals. They are further urged to regularly consult the UNSC websites to ensure continued compliance and accurate record keeping.

Date: 6 June 2023 To: All Registrants and Licensees Re: International Obligations (Economic and Ancillary Measures) Act, Chapter 16 (IOEAMA): ISIL (Da’esh) and Al-Qaida Pursuant to section 3A of the International Obligations (Economic and Ancillary Measures) Act, Chapter 16 (IOEAMA), licensees and registrants of the Securities Commission of The Bahamas (the Commission) are hereby informed that on 5 June 2023, the Security Council Committee pursuant to resolutions 1267 (1999), 1989 (2011) and 2253 (2015) concerning ISIL (Da’esh), Al-Qaida and associated individuals, groups, undertakings and entities removed the entries specified in the United Nations press release attached hereto from the ISIL (Da’esh) and Al-Qaida Sanctions List after concluding its consideration of the de-listing requests for these names.
