Latvijas Banka issues payment institution license to SIA Fibonatix (LV)

The Supervisory Committee of the Bank of Latvia issued a payment institution license to SIA Fibonatix (LV) on June 11, authorizing the company to provide payment acceptance services for merchants. This brings the total number of licensed payment institutions in Latvia to nine, alongside eleven licensed electronic money institutions and one registered electronic money institution. The Bank of Latvia also noted that it has issued twelve licenses to financial market participants this year, highlighting the efficiency of its licensing process.

On June 11, the Supervisory Committee of the Bank of Latvia issued a payment institution license to SIA Fibonatix (LV). The license allows the company to provide payment acceptance services.

Currently, there are nine licensed payment institutions in Latvia, as well as 11 licensed electronic money institutions and one registered electronic money institution.

Companies wishing to obtain a license from the Bank of Latvia are invited to use the licensing guidelines prepared by the Bank of Latvia, which contain detailed information about the licensing process and requirements, including what documents need to be prepared and submitted to the Bank of Latvia, what the application review deadlines are, and other information.

To ensure a smooth licensing process, the Bank of Latvia encourages companies to use pre-licensing consultations. In these consultations, Bank of Latvia experts advise companies on applicable regulations and initially assess the company's compliance with regulatory requirements. Cooperation in the pre-licensing phase helps companies prepare high-quality applications for obtaining a license. Consultations can be booked on the Bank of Latvia's website .

The Bank of Latvia has issued 12 licenses to financial market participants this year. The entry of new market participants into the Latvian financial market confirms that the Bank of Latvia has established a structured and efficient licensing process.
