Memorandum to Licensed Banks No. 11-2024
The Central Bank of Jordan requires licensed banks to ensure cash batches are deposited before 2:00 PM, as no armored vehicles are permitted entry after this time. Banks must submit withdrawal requests via fax at least one business day in advance, with non-compliant requests being rejected. Additionally, banks must sort banknotes by condition and issue, process coins by denomination in separate bags, and attach accurate information cards to all cash bundles and packets before deposit.

Greetings,
Further to my memoranda addressed to licensed banks No. (2018/35) dated July 1, 2018, regarding our instructions related to cash deposit operations at the Central Bank, I wish to emphasize the necessity of your compliance with the following:
First: Confirm with your main branches the necessity to exercise precision when preparing cash batches and counting them before depositing them into your accounts at the Central Bank, and to exercise precision when preparing the deposit document and verifying all information contained therein.
Second: Confirm with your main branches that cash batches must not be delayed until after 2:00 PM, as the Bank Counter's working hours end at 2:00 PM, and no armored car will be allowed entry into the Central Bank building after that time.
Third: Confirm with your main branches the sending of a fax regarding the amounts to be withdrawn from your account with us, at least one business day in advance. Please note that any requests from banks that do not comply with this will not be honored.
Fourth: Confirm with your main branches the sorting of banknotes of all denominations into fit and unfit for reissue notes, and the sorting of the Fourth Issue from the Fifth Issue, before depositing them into your accounts at the Central Bank.
Fifth: Confirm with your main branches the placement of a correct information card on every bundle of cash showing the name of the depositing bank and the date of deposit, in addition to an information card on every packet.
Sixth: Confirm with your main branches the processing of coins before depositing them into your accounts at the Central Bank, with the necessity to do the following:
- Sort coins by denomination and do not mix more than one denomination inside a bag to complete the value.
- Sort damaged notes from fit notes and deposit them in separate bags.
- Place a contents card on each bag indicating the denomination, total amount, and date.
- Ensure that coin bags are free of any non-Jordanian currency.
