MPD Circular No. 01 : Regarding Cash Reserve Requirement (CRR)

The Cash Reserve Requirement (CRR) for all scheduled banks in Bangladesh is increased to 6.5 percent on a bi-weekly average basis, with a minimum daily requirement of 6.0 percent. This change applies to all scheduled banks, including Shariah-based banks, and replaces the previous rates of 6.0 percent and 5.5 percent respectively. The new requirements become effective from June 24, 2014.

With a view to attain the objectives of monetary policy, it has been decided that CRR will be 6.5 percent on bi-weekly average basis with a provision of minimum 6.0 percent on daily basis effective from June 24, 2014.
