The Monetary Authority of Singapore issued Notice 616 pursuant to Section 54A of the Banking Act to regulate the sale of numismatic items by financial institutions. The notice explicitly prohibits banks from selling commemorative coins or medals to the public. However, it permits the sale of genuine coins that are recognized as legal tender.
