The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan establishes four new Free Economic Zones (FEZs) in the Samarkand, Bukhara, Fergana, and Khorezm regions to attract investment for high-value-added production. The decree grants these zones a 30-year operational lifespan with special tax, customs, and currency regimes, and mandates the creation of FEZ directorities to manage operations via a one-stop-shop principle. It further requires government ministries to define land boundaries, develop infrastructure programs, and align legislation to support these zones, while extending specific preferential measures from a 2016 decree to the new entities.
