PMA Circular: Formation of a Sustainable Finance Working Group 2025

The Palestine Monetary Authority requires all banks operating in Palestine to appoint one qualified representative to join the newly established Sustainable Finance Working Group by April 24, 2025. Contact details for the appointed member must be submitted via email to GF-CCR@pma.ps. The Working Group is tasked with integrating ESG principles into financial strategies, harmonizing sustainable finance concepts, and developing common frameworks and guidelines for sustainable products and climate risk management.

Subject: Formation of a Sustainable Finance Working Group

In line with the Palestine Monetary Authority's commitment to supporting sustainable finance initiatives and enhancing sustainability in the financial sector by integrating Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles into investment and financing strategies and decisions, and in follow-up to the Sustainable Finance Roadmap issued by the Authority, we look forward to forming the "Sustainable Finance Working Group" to provide a consultative and coordinating platform for stakeholders in the financial sector in this field.

The Working Group will undertake multiple tasks, most notably achieving integration among efforts and harmonizing concepts related to sustainable finance, establishing a common and unified framework for practices and standards in this field, and reviewing and submitting proposals and recommendations regarding frameworks and guidelines to be issued in the field of sustainable finance, such as sustainable finance principles, principles for effective management of climate-related risks, and guidelines for the development and design of sustainable financial products and services, among others.

Accordingly, we request that you appoint one member with expertise and specialization, and provide us with their contact information by no later than April 24, 2025, via the following email address: GF-CCR@pma.ps.
