Dear Sir,

Regarding Banks' responsibilities to protect Customers' interest in using Automated Teller Machine (ATM) and Point of Sale (POS).

In order to ensure customer interest protection and secure transactions in the field of card-based electronic transactions using ATMs and POS, the following measures are hereby directed to be taken:

  1. ATM and POS networks must be kept operationally active;
  2. Adequate supply of cash must be ensured at ATM booths;
  3. Arrangements must be made to display notices in front of closed or non-functional ATM booths;
  4. If any bank's ATM and POS services are closed due to unavoidable reasons, customers must be informed immediately;
  5. Necessary measures must be taken to ensure security (see PSD Circular No-03/2013 issued by Bangladesh Bank on 05 September, 2013).
