Individuals who have interacted with the fake site are advised to check their devices for viruses and report any monetary petitions to the Enforcement Department.
SECURITIES COMMISSION OF THE BAHAMAS PUBLIC NOTICE No. 8 of 2024 22 July 2024 RE: FAKE SECURITIES COMMISSION OF THE BAHAMAS WEBSITE This NOTICE is issued by the Securities Commission of The Bahamas (the Commission) pursuant to its authority under the Securities Industry Act, 2011, the Investment Funds Act, 2019 the Financial and Corporate Service Providers Act, 2020 and the Digital Assets and Registered Exchanges Act, 2020 (the Acts). It has come to the attention of the Commission that a person or persons unknown have created and are currently operating a website: www.sc-bahamas.org which is a fraudulent representation of the official website of the Securities Commission of The Bahamas. The correct official website of the Securities Commission of The Bahamas is located at: https://www.scb.gov.bs Commission staff have viewed the fraudulent website and note that it appears that this fictitious duplicate website, having copied significant amounts of information from the Commission’s website, looks almost identical to the Commission’s website. Therefore, the public is hereby warned to exercise extreme caution when attempting to access the Commission’s website to ensure that they are indeed accessing the correct website. The public is herein reminded of the dangers involved with accessing fictitious websites. Some of these dangers include, but are not limited to: a) exposing your computer to spyware/malware; b) risk of having your personal information accessed by an unknown third parties; or c) risk of personal financial loss. The Commission assures the public that, via its official website, it will never:
Public Notice: Fraudulent SCB Website… 2 a) request payment for any service of the Commission; b) provide detailed instructions for and request payment of fees; and c) advise a new or existing licensee of its license status. Activities as listed above are clear red flags that one is dealing with a fictitious entity pretending to be an existing and reputable entity. If any member of the public has interacted with this fictitious website, you are advised to have your computer checked for viruses as soon as practicable. If you have interacted with this fictitious website and was petitioned for monies, please contact the Enforcement Department of the Commission at enfdept@scb.gov.bs.
