CIRCULAR LETTER TO INSURANCE COMPANIES, ATTIC, TTAIFA

REGISTRATION OF SALESMEN AND AGENTS

The Central Bank of Trinidad and Tobago (the Central Bank) wishes to remind all insurance companies of Section 89 of the Insurance Act, Chapter 84:01 (the Act) which requires an application for registration inter alia as an agent or salesman to be made to the Central Bank in the prescribed form and accompanied by evidence of payment of the prescribed fee and such documents as may be prescribed.

In order to ensure that applications for registration are submitted completely and accurately, the Central Bank will require insurers to complete a checklist. These checklists may be viewed and downloaded from the Central Banks website, at http://www.central-bank.org.tt/content/legislation-guidelines-and-letters.

Insurance companies would now be required to submit a copy of the completed checklist signed by the Manager with responsibility for insurance intermediaries to accompany each application for registration.
