Release of foreign exchange against travel quota to students proceeding abroad for study

Please refer to FE Circular No. 24, dated November 24, 2010 in terms of which Authorized Dealers (ADs) may release entire unused annual travel quota in foreign exchange to resident Bangladesh nationals proceeding abroad against one way ticket for valid job or migrating abroad.

2. It has now been decided that ADs may release the entire unused annual travel quota in foreign exchange to Bangladeshi students proceeding abroad against one way ticket to study in admissible courses as mentioned in paragraph 10, chapter 11 of the Guidelines for Foreign Exchange Transactions (GFET), 2009 (Vol-1). In such cases, no separate entitlement will be admissible for expenses in transit as mentioned in paragraph 10(B) (a), Chapter 11 of the GFET. Accordingly, relevant instructions mentioned in paragraph 10(B) (a), Chapter 11 of the GFET and its amendment vide FE Circular No. 20, dated May 05, 2014 shall stand repealed.
3. Other instructions regarding release of foreign exchange for travel abroad will remain unchanged. Please bring the above instructions, effective immediately, to notice of all concerned.
