The Board of Directors of the Central Bank of Bolivia authorizes the issuance of a series of commemorative bimetallic coins to mark the bicentennial of the emancipation struggles that occurred in Bolivian territory starting in 2009. The resolution specifies that the coins must be made of silver and Nordic gold, weigh 15 grams, have a diameter of 29 millimeters, and feature the Bolivian coat of arms on the reverse and a commemorative motif on the obverse, with a maximum production quantity of 7,000 units. Applications for minting are to be submitted through the Ministry of Cultures, with minting costs charged to the Central Bank's budget and sales prices determined by the Board.
BOARD RESOLUTION NO. 020/2010 SUBJECT: BOARD - ISSUANCE OF BICENTENNIAL COINS IN COMMEMORATION OF THE AMERICAN LIBERTARIAN GRIOTS OCCURRING ON BOLIVIAN TERRITORY.
VIEWED: The Law No. 1670 of October 31, 1995. The Statute of the Central Bank of Bolivia of October 21, 2005. Minutes 027/2008, 029/2008, 032/2008 and 033/2008 corresponding to the ordinary meetings of the Board of Directors of the Central Bank of Bolivia of June 19, July, July 22 and July 29, 2008 and 023/2009 corresponding to the ordinary meeting of the Board of Directors of the Central Bank of Bolivia of June 9 and 10, 2009. The Report from the Monetary Operations Management STES No. 099/2008 of July 11, 2008. The Report from the Legal Affairs Management SANO No. 189/2008 of July 14, 2008.
CONSIDERING: That pursuant to articles 1 and 3 of Law No. 1670, the Central Bank of Bolivia is the sole monetary and exchange authority of the country with administrative, technical and financial competence and specialized regulatory powers of general application, being authorized to formulate policies in the matter of monetary, exchange and payment system.
That the aforementioned Law in its articles 10, 11, 13 and 54, subsections a), o) and m), establishes the functions of the BCB regarding the issuance of banknotes and metallic coins, as well as the attributions of the Board to authorize and supervise the printing, issuance and destruction of monetary material, being authorized to issue the rules and adopt the general decisions that were necessary for its compliance. The banknotes and coins issued by the BCB will have the denominations, dimensions, designs and colors that its Board disposes, which must make its characteristics public.
That article 12 of Law No. 1670 stipulates that the Central Bank of Bolivia will contract the minting of commemorative or numismatic coins, subject to the general rules of contracting goods and services for the State.
That in minutes 027, 029 and 032 of 2008, the Board of Directors of the Central Bank of Bolivia determined to issue, in adherence to the historical events that sealed American independence and the Foundation of the Republic that will be celebrated starting from the 2009 management, a collection or series of commemorative coins to these anniversaries.

No. 020/2010 That by Minute No. 033/2008 the Board of Directors of the BCB determined that the reverse of all bicentennial commemorative coins should have a common design showing the Coat of Arms of Bolivia, the same that appears in Boliviano legal tender coins, and the obverse expose a motif allusive to the commemoration of the historical date, which will be agreed upon by the BCB with authorities of the different departments.
That by Minute No. 023/2009 in the framework of what is provided by Supreme Decree No. 0048 of March 18, 2009, it was determined to modify the design of the reverse of Boliviano coins, which must include the legend "Plurinational State of Bolivia" instead of Republic of Bolivia.
THEREFORE, THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CENTRAL BANK OF BOLIVIA RESOLVES:
Article 1.- Approve the issuance of a series of Bicentennial commemorative coins, corresponding to the anniversaries that will be celebrated from the year 2009, the emancipation struggles of the American Continent that occurred in the territory of the Plurinational State of Bolivia.
Article 2.- Authorize the minting and issuance of the "Bicentennial Coins" series within the framework of the provisions contained in Law No. 1670 and the procedure for the Provision of Banknotes and Coins established in the Specific Regulation for the Administration of Goods and Services of the BCB, according to the following common characteristics: • Manufacturing material: Bimetallic coin. • Composition: External ring of silver (Ag900) core of bronze and aluminum (Nordic gold) • Weight per unit: 15 grams (grs) (+/- 0.10 grs) • Shape: Cylindrical or polyhedral • Diameter: o a. Total diameter: Twenty-nine millimeters (29mm). (+/- 0.10 mm) o b. Diameter of the internal circle: Twenty-one millimeters (21mm) o c. Diameter of the external circle: Eight millimeters (8 mm) • Thickness: Approximately 2 mm • Edge: Smooth with the option of speaking • Denomination. Without denomination • Quantity: Up to seven thousand coins (7,000) • Artistic detail of the obverse: At the proposal of the applicant

Article 3.- The requests for the minting of "Bicentennial Coins" will be channeled to the Central Bank of Bolivia through the Ministry of Cultures.
Article 4.- The minting cost will be charged to the BCB budget. The Monetary Operations Management will incorporate this budget into the corresponding item of coin minting according to approximate unit cost estimates.
Article 5.- Authorize the sale in the domestic market of the "Bicentennial Coins" according to the price fixed by the Board of Directors of the Central Bank of Bolivia.
Article 6.- The Presidency and the General Management are in charge of the execution and compliance of this Resolution.
