The Board of Directors of the Central Bank of Bolivia extends the implementation deadline for the Foreign Exchange Position Regulation of the Financial System from September 1, 1997, to October 1, 1997. This extension addresses difficulties reported by banks in adapting their automated reporting systems to the formats required by the Superintendence of Banks and Financial Entities. The Presidency and General Management are tasked with executing and ensuring compliance with this resolution.
BOARD RESOLUTION NO. 148/97 SUBJECT: FINANCIAL SYSTEM - EXTENSION UNTIL 10/1/97 OF THE DEADLINE FOR IMPLEMENTING THE FOREIGN EXCHANGE POSITION REGULATION OF THE FINANCIAL SYSTEM.
HAVING REVIEWED: Law No. 1670 of October 31, 1995. Board Resolution No. 109/97 of May 8, 1997, which approves the Foreign Exchange Position Regulation of the Financial System. Letters SE 275/97 and 284/97 from the Executive Secretariat of ASOBAN. Report from the Financial System Management GSF - No. 158/97 of September 2, 1997. Report from the Legal Advisory ALEG No. 135/97 of September 9, 1997.
CONSIDERING: That according to Article 2 of Board Resolution No. 109/97, the aforementioned Foreign Exchange Position Regulation was to enter into force on September 1, 1997. That in light of the arguments presented by ASOBAN, stating that several banks encountered difficulties in adapting their automated reporting systems to issue reports in the formats required by the Superintendence of Banks and Financial Entities, it has been deemed appropriate to extend the implementation deadline for the aforementioned Regulation until October 1 of the coming year. That in the opinion of the Legal Advisory and in accordance with item (o) of Article 54 of Law No. 1670, the Board is authorized to approve, modify, or interpret the Statute and Regulations of the BCB.

THEREFORE, THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CENTRAL BANK OF BOLIVIA RESOLVES:
Article 1.- Extend until October 1, 1997, the implementation deadline for the Foreign Exchange Position Regulation of the Financial System, approved by Board Resolution No. 109/97.
Article 2.- The Presidency and General Management are charged with the execution and compliance of this Resolution.
