BOARD RESOLUTION NO. 161/97 SUBJECT: CURRENCY AND CREDIT - AUTHORIZES MONETIZATION OF SERIES "E" BANKNOTES.
HAVING REVIEWED: Law 1670 of October 31, 1995. Law 901 of November 28, 1986, which creates the "Boliviano" as the legal and mandatory unit of currency. Report No. 032/97 from the Currency and Credit Management dated October 21, 1997. Legal Advisory Report ALEG No. 171/97 dated October 22, 1997.
CONSIDERING: That according to Article 10 of Law 1670, the Central Bank of Bolivia (BCB) exercises exclusively and non-delegably the function of issuing the monetary unit of Bolivia, which is the "Boliviano," in the form of banknotes and metallic coins. That the BCB has received from the company Francois Charles Oberthur the entirety of the Series "E" banknotes. That it is the attribution of the Board of Directors, according to Article 54, subsection m) of Law 1670, to authorize and supervise the issuance of banknotes.
Therefore, THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CENTRAL BANK OF BOLIVIA RESOLVES:
//2. R.D. No. 161/97 Article 1.- Authorize the monetization of Series "E" banknotes in denominations of Bs200, 100, 50, 20, 10, and 5, according to the following detail:
