To the Head Office / Principal Office of all Approved Dealers/Banks engaged in Foreign Exchange Transactions.

Dear Sir,

Reference is invited to "Instructions to follow the revised Unit Code lists (Code-9) for Reporting Merchandised Export/Import in Foreign Exchange Transactions" under the "Foreign Exchange Regulation (2012)" of "FE-9".

In order to improve the quality of data required for the compilation of the Balance of Payments (BOP) and to eliminate inconsistencies in the unit of measurement and quantity of merchandised transactions in the context of reporting import/export, all approved dealer banks are advised to correctly report the unit of measurement and quantity (number) of merchandised transactions against the respective "Unit Code" of the revised FE-9 (attached) based on the "Standard International Trade Classification" (SITC) from January 2018 onwards on all schedule hard copies/soft copies related to import/export.

All parties are requested to inform themselves regarding the subject matter of this circular letter.
