SD Circular No. 01: Regarding time refixation of SBS-1 reporting

Dear Sir,

Regarding the time refixation of SBS-1 reporting.

Reference is invited to Statistics Department Circular No.-05/2018 dated 13 December, 2018 on the subject cited above.

According to the aforementioned circular, banks have been regularly submitting sector-wise liability and asset information for the concerned month through the SBS-1 report to this department by the 15th of the following month. Information obtained from banks through the SBS-1 report is used to prepare the Economic Survey of Bangladesh, which is utilized for monetary policy implementation and for transmitting information to various international organizations. In view of the demand from the aforementioned authority, to expedite the work of the Economic Survey, the submission deadline for the said report has been refixed from the 15th to the 12th. Accordingly, with the approval of the aforementioned authority, the following instructions are issued to ensure regular and reliable submission of the SBS-1 report by banks to the Statistics Department of Bangladesh Bank by the stipulated time:

1. From April 2023, the SBS-1 reports for subsequent months must be submitted to this department through the Automated Clearing House (ACH) by the 12th of the following month.

2. Similarly, the SBS-1 reports of Non-Bank Financial Institutions (NBFIs) must also be submitted within the said time.

3. In accordance with Serial No. 02 of Statistics Department Circular No.-06/2014 dated 21 December, 2014, instructions are given to not submit the SBS-1 report from April 2023.
